Interneuronal Network Acting on Snail Neurosecretory Neurones (yellow Cells and Yellow-green Cells of Lymnaea)

چکیده

Neurosecretory cells in Lymnaea are the follower cells of a network of interneurones consisting of four different cell types, three of which are inhibitory and one excitatory. One identified interneurone, the visceral white interneurone (VWI), inhibits the Yellow Cells and Yellow-green Cells, or converts Yellow Cells from single spiking to doubletting or bursting. A second interneurone, RPeDl, has weak inhibitory effects on both types of neurosecretory cells but its main effect is to inhibit the VWI and allow the Yellow Cells to be strongly influenced by spontaneous EPSP inputs (input 3).

Plateau-generating Nerve Cells in Helix: Morphological and Electrophysiological Characteristics

We describe the anatomical and electrophysiological characteristics of a group of Helix nerve cells, styled P cells, that generate long-lasting depolarizations in response to repeated stimulations at low frequencies. Four neurones were identified in the perioesophageal ganglia of the snail Helix pomatia. Their structure was determined by intracellular injection of Lucifer Yellow, cobaltlysine o...

The Neural Control of Egg-laying Behaviour in the Pond Snail Lymnaea Stagnalis: Motor Control of Shell Turning

Behavioural and neurophysiological techniques were used to study the neuronal control of shell turning during egg-laying in the pond snail Lymnaea stagnalis. Egg-laying consists of three phases: resting, turning and oviposition, and is triggered by an electrical discharge in a group of neuroendocrine cells, the caudodorsal cells. During the discharge, several peptides encoded on two CDCH genes ...

Chemosensitivity of the osphradium of the pond snail Lymnaea stagnalis

The osphradium of the pond snail Lymnaea stagnalis was studied to determine the stimuli to which this organ responds. The following stimuli were tested: hypoxia, hypercapnia, a mixture of amino acids, a mixture of citralva and amyl acetate and a mixture of lyral, lilial and ethylvanillin. The mean nerve activity consistently increased with elevated PCO2, whereas hypoxia produced variable effect...

A neuronal network from the mollusc Lymnaea stagnalis.

The morphology, electrophysiology, and synaptic inputs of a ventrally located neuronal network from the CNS of the pond snail Lymnaea stagnalis was investigated. Three large, previously identified neurons [55] known as right parietal ventral one, two, and three (RPV1,2,&3) were found to be electrically coupled to one another. Coupling between either RPV1&2 or RPV1&3 was weak while coupling betw...

Primary structure and origin of schistosomin, an anti-gonadotropic neuropeptide of the pond snail Lymnaea stagnalis.

In the pond snail Lymnaea stagnalis infected with the schistosome parasite Trichobilharzia ocellata, a peptide called schistosomin is released from the central nervous system, which counteracts the bioactivity of a number of gonadotropic hormones. This leads to inhibition of the reproductive activities of the infected snail. In order to determine the structure of schistosomin, the neuropeptide ...
